Tired of gingerly stepping out of the shower and hoping that you don’t slip and fall? You need a bath mat – one that not only will keep you from falling, but one that’s soft to the touch and spruces up the bathroom a bit. We’ve got just the thing – Stoneface Creation’s Pretty Puff Bathmat free crochet pattern.
This was originally another one of those pictures you find in Pinterest that lead to link after link with no pattern, but luckily, Stoneface Creation was up to the task and has provided us with an easy-to-read pattern with pictures and additional help.
The combination of simple, basic stitches and the puff stitch ensures that this mat will stay chic and comfy through all four seasons, able to soak up leftover droplets and give your feet a safe space to rest on while providing you with a little upscale fibre fashion.
You’ll need about 12 skeins of yarn (unless you’re using a thicker yarn, in which case, you will only need 6 skeins – the pattern calls for Ice Yarn in a neutral color) and a “J” size hook, and you’ll need to know the following stitches: single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc) and the puff stitch (there is a link to a puff stitch tutorial in the pattern in case you have not yet mastered it). The finished mat will measure 24″ x 36″ inches.
The mat is crocheted from side to side, with the half double crochet stitch being used to finish up the sides so there are no raw edges. There are 63 rows of crochet before that, so this is a project you’ll want to dedicate a weekend or two for, although if you’ve got a television show you’ve been meaning to binge-watch, it will seem to go by pretty quickly!
If you’d like to try this free pattern out, you can find it (and more) at Stoneface Creations. You can also follow them on Pinterest.
