Baby Espadrilles Crochet

Baby Espadrilles Crochet

Looking for a baby shower or birthday gift that isn’t the usual pair of booties or blanket? We found a pattern for an adorable crocheted pair of baby espadrilles that will be the showstopper at any special occasion. The color can be changed, the buttons can be replaced (either with a differently shaped button or with a bow), and ribbon can be added to make them into a pair of ballet slippers. However you choose to make these, add your own spin for a unique, precious pair of shoes that will be kept and treasured for a lifetime.

The free pattern we found begins with crocheting the bottom of the shoe, then moves on to the top and sides, which are crocheted separately and then joined. Single crochet is used throughout so even if you’re new to crochet or crocheting in pieces, you’ll be able to put these together in no time. Once the shoe is put together, you can add whichever buttons or bows you like, or you can leave them plain. To make a pair of espadrilles, you’ll need yarn (we recommend using something soft so that little feet don’t get itchy), a crochet hook in a corresponding size, a pair of scissors, stitch markers, a tapestry needle, and either four buttons or two bows to attach at the end.

These enchanting little espadrilles aren’t only lovely presents, they’d make a great item for a craft bazaar – who doesn’t love the look of handmade items, especially if they can purchase them ready made instead of making them on their own? You could sell these Etsy as well, or on your own website. Depending on the size of yarn and hook you use, you could scale these down for stuffed animals and dolls, or scale them up to make toddler size espadrilles. With a little practice, you could even make these for specific dolls, many of which have fan clubs that share links to high quality products such as clothes and accessories. Wouldn’t these look excellent on an American Girl Doll? Or a Build-A-Bear?
