These are some cozy, warm mittens to add some color to the cooler months! They’re a pair of crochet mittens we found a free pattern for, and the project is rated at the ‘easy’ level, with a free crochet pattern pdf you can click to download.
There are various sizes available as modifications for this pattern, as it’s meant for 2 – 8 year old boys and girls, but there are different sizes for smaller and bigger kids. For example, the youngest girls, the mittens measure 5″ [12.5 cm] circumference of palm x 6½” [16.5 cm] long, including cuff, and for the oldest boys (8 year olds) they measure 6½” [16.5 cm] circumference of palm x 8″ [20.5 cm] long, including cuff. The materials for this crochet project are as follows (with suggested but not necessary yarn colors):
- Girl’s crochet mittens: Bubblegum, Daffodil, and Mint colors (yarns by Red Heart with Love)
- Boy’s crochet mittens: Holly Berry, Peacock, and Bluebell colors
- Crochet Hook: 5mm (US H-8)
- Yarn needle
- Gauge/Tension: 8 hdc = 2″ (5 cm); 6 rows = 2″ (5 cm)
