Coffee Cozy Crochet Patterns - Free

That steaming cup of coffee in the morning sure hits the spot – or would if you could pick it up! When your mug or to-go cup is too hot, you need a coffee sleeve. And not the thin cardboard kind. One you can trust to keep your hands pain-free. If you’re a regular coffee or tea drinker with a need for a more permanent coffee sleeve situation, we’ve got you covered with these free patterns.

Cup cozies or sleeves are a quick, easy project with dozens of variations available to suit your needs, whether you’re imbibing at home or on the go. Different stitches add interest and the details are up to you, whether you want to add buttons, beads, or baubles.

One of our favorite patterns is the Basket Weave Coffee Sleeve from Just Be Happy. It was made to fit a 16 oz to-go cup using worsted weight yarn and a size “G” hook (after you chain 30, check and see if it fits your cup. If not, you can go up a hook size).

You’ll need to know the following stitches: chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), double crochet (dc), fasten off (FO), yarn over (YO), front post double crochet (fpdc) and back post double crochet (bpdc), the last two of which are explained in the pattern with a photo tutorial. The pattern is crocheted in the round.

The Basket Weave Coffee Sleeve pattern can be found on Just Be Happy Life (if you prefer a PDF, it is available as a free download on Ravelry from Just Be Happy – follow the link on their blog).

If you’d like more information on free sleeve and cozy patterns, you can find more options at Everything Etsy.
