3D Spiral 8-Petal Flower

Do you ever feel like your outfit or ensemble needs a bit of personal flair? Not many of us have the opportunity to have clothing tailor-made or designed for us, but we can each add a little bit of our personality into an outfit by creating our own little accessories, like this 3D spiral 8-petal flower, which could work as a hair accessory, a brooch, or even a necklace. You could attach it to your bag, scarf, or sweater, or you could gift these gorgeous blooms to your friends and family. If you like the coordinated look, you could have a family portrait where everyone has one of these in the same color.

One of the best things about this flower is its size. It’s small enough to be a quick project, and different enough that it will stand out. If you like, you can change the pearl out for a button, beads, or even a knot of ribbon. You can color coordinate by using two contrasting or complementary colors, or use a yarn that is variegated. The choice is up to you, and after making just one of these, you’ll probably want to try out different yarns to see how this blossom changes.

The pattern mostly consists of chain spaces, slip stitches, single crochet, and treble crochet, all of which are easy enough for even beginner crocheters to learn. The pattern suggests using 100% cotton yarn (something like Sugar ‘N Cream could work) and a 1.5mm crochet hook. You’ll also need something for the center of the flower (as you can see in the photo, a faux pearl has been used) as well as a pair of scissors.
