Make a Box Out of a License Plate

Make a Box Out of a Licence Plate

Do you have a licence plate and you’re looking for a licence plate craft? Here’s one demonstrated by Texan James@TheCavenderDiary. This example he put up is good, but it could be a lot better. It’s not safe. Even the finished product he makes has what could be sharp edges. You probably will want to fold over any edge that you could touch with your hand to make it safer.

The steps are pretty simple:

Put on gloves — good ones that will protect against thin metal slicing them,

hammer the licence plate flat with a rubber hammer if you need to get it flatter,

cut into the licence plate from the sides and cut the corners shorter,

use a piece of wood the size you want your box and bend the licence plate metal around the wood,

(now here is the step he doesn’t do: fold the sides over just a bit at the top, so you don’t have a sharp edge sticking up — basically, take a short length at the top of the side and double it back over on itself,)

use pliers to bend the sides around square,

fold the long pieces up and over the sides.
