Beaded Chandelier

Beaded Chandelier

Crystal or glass chandeliers aren’t the only way to spice up the look of a dining room or living room! There’s no denying the attraction of sparkling crystal or anything, but how often have you walked into someone’s den and seen a beaded chandelier? Definitely something you’d go take a closer look at, because it’s a groovy idea.

You can make beaded chandeliers yourself, just as you can crystal or glass ones, and really it’s not as hard as you might at first think. The main parts to a beaded chandelier are the hook to mount it to the ceiling, then at least one hoop, to hand the strands of beads from, and then usually a second hoop underneath to tie them all together like macrame, and sometimes other hoops above, too. The best way to understand this is just to look closely at other beaded chandeliers. Another way to make a beaded chandelier, which might have occurred to some of you thrifters out there, is to pick up a second hand, maybe no longer presentable chandelier from a garage sale or thrift store, and just repurpose it with your own beads. You can also buy these new from places like the Pottery Barn or The Cross, and they cost a few hundred dollars. Then, if you get bored of the color, you can always paint your beads (if you used wooden or clay beads, anyway).
